Knee & Ankle Pain

Knee & Ankle Pain

Stand up, close your eyes, march in place 3 or 4 times, then stop, and don't reposition your feet. Now open your eyes and look at your feet. Have they pointed precisely straight ahead or rotated outward or inward? Are they the same on both sides? Are they about hip-width apart, or is your stance broader or narrower? Is one further forward than the other? Where your feet are right now tells us what unnatural torque is being exerted on your knees and ankles daily. This could be painful and could mean you have a higher chance of injuring your knee or ankle when moving.

When joints like the knee joint are constantly torqued, there is too much friction during movement. This can lead to bursitis, arthritis, and even knee replacement. What happens at your knee could result from a previously injured ankle or shoulder. Most likely, your femur (thigh bone) is chronically rotated inward or outward and isn't properly positioned by your hips, which creates torque at the knee. It's all connected.
